Indian Ocean

The Indian Ocean is the gold-standard of surf travel, without a doubt. Not many would disagree with us saying that the Indian Ocean has the highest concentration of world class waves found on our planet. The Indian Ocean covers 20% of the water on the surface of the earth. This vast, warm ocean is also home to a number of incredible surf spots including Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Maldives and many, many more. Open ocean swell travels from the south, or better known as the roaring forties, which is a band of high, consistent west wind at the very bottom of the Indian Ocean. The swell generated by these winds travel thousands of kilometres to the shores of Sri Lanka, Indonesia and the Maldives, thus creating good, high quality swell.
